Classifications


All District personnel are classified and thereby in the process of being trained to and above each currently held level and anticipated levels. Every classification/rank requires some form of assessment. Basic requirements or desired qualifications include:

Fourth Class (One year of service - probationary exam. minimum requirement)
  • Recruit Academy and subsequent first year training (NFPA FFI)
  • Operations Level Haz/Mat, EMT, NWCG FFII, Confined Space, Water Rescue
  • IFASC FF1 Certification probationary requirement
  • EVAP Certification

Third Class (Two years of service)
  • Emergency Response approved for at least one EV
  • Annual Fire Hose Test
  • Driving Procedures, On-Board Reference Material and EV systems

Second Class (Three years of service)
  • Annual Pump Test
  • Pumps, Hydraulics, NFPA FF2
  • A/O in a hose evolution

First Class (Four years of service)
  • Basic Emergency Scene Management
  • Response Policy
  • Basic Supervisory Skills
  • EMT/Defibrillator - Certified

Captain
  • Advanced Emergency Scene Management
  • Advanced Supervisory/Leadership Skills
  • Fire Officer I and II
  • Associates Degree

Chief Officer
  • Executive Fire Officer
  • Bachelors Degree
  • Masters Degree
