Public Invited to Hearings on Possible Annexation Vote for City and Fire District

BATTLE GROUND & BRUSH PRAIRIE, WA - Three public hearings are scheduled where the city of Battle Ground will discuss the possibility of annexing to Clark County Fire District 3. The public is invited to attend and comment on a ballot measure proposed for the February 11, 2020 Special Election. Voters in both the city and fire district must approve annexation for it to go forward.

Investments in Emergency Services Stays with Fire District Residents While Annexation Talks Progress

BRUSH PRAIRIE, WA - Two years ago, voters in Clark County Fire District 3 approved a fire levy lid lift to improve staffing and emergency services. Two years later, the Fire District will welcome three new emergency personnel this September to help increase staffing in Venersborg and other parts of the district. The Fire District also plans to hire three more firefighters to respond to increasing call volumes.

Battle Ground Eyes 2020 Fire District Annexation Vote

The city of Battle Ground will likely ask voters to approve a potential annexation into Clark County Fire District 3 on the February 2020 special election ballot.

The city sent out a news release indicating that both it and the fire district had preliminarily agreed to see an annexation vote appear on the ballot next year. Currently, the city contracts with the fire district for its services, with payment on the contract making up the lion's share of the property tax levy that residents pay.

Annexation Discussion Continues for Battle Ground and Clark County Fire District 3

BATTLE GROUND & BRUSH PRAIRIE, WA - The City of Battle Ground and Clark County Fire District 3 are continuing discussions about annexation. The City, which currently contracts for fire service, will ask its voters to annex into the Fire District during the February Special Election in 2020. Voters in Fire District 3 also have to approve the annexation.

Battle Ground, Fire District 3 explore annexation plan

BATTLE GROUND - After three-plus years of contracting with Fire District 3, Battle Ground officials are looking to solidify the partnership by possibly annexing into the district. 

Fire District 3 took over as Battle Ground's fire and emergency service contractor on Jan. 1, 2016, after the city opted to switch from using Clark County Fire & Rescue. 

Survey: BG residents open to potential fire district annexation

The Battle Ground City Council got a rundown of a recent survey on the possibility of formal annexation into Clark County Fire District 3 and the results showed that education on the city’s public safety situation is necessary for successfully bringing the city into the district.

Clark County Fire District 3 Offers Free Smoke Detectors

BRUSH PRAIRIE, WA- Clark County Fire District 3 is offering free smoke detectors to residents of owner occupied single-family homes in their service are. Interested applicants can apply by filling out a form online at www.fire3.org.

Wildfires touch down across Clark, Cowlitz last week

A rash of brush fires across Clark and Cowlitz counties led to action from multiple local agencies including a temporary burn ban that ran for a few days in Cowlitz.

On March 20 Clark County Fire District 3 announced that it had responded to several wildland fires over two days in the county. At about 6:30 p.m., March 19, FD3 crews responded to the 20300 block of Northeast 242nd Avenue, southeast of Venersborg, finding a brush fire about an acre in size burning at the location. Crews had the fire extinguished by 8 p.m. and ruled that it was likely the result of a controlled burn that reignited.

Three dogs die in rural Clark County house fire

A house fire east of Battle Ground in rural Clark County killed three dogs early Monday morning, according to a battalion chief with Clark County Fire District 3.
