Fire District 3 was dispatched with Vancouver Fire at 0725 to a structure fire in the area of NE 119th Street and NE Ward Rd. Units arrived within 4 minutes to find a fully involved 40x40 out-building (shop) at 11430 NE Ward Rd. The out-building was full of lumber and other burnable material that led to a large amount of fire. There was a large barn approximately 10 feet away from the out building; it was saved by the quick action of firefighters. The house located approximately 100 feet away was also spared. Due to no fire hydrants in the area, 4 large water tenders shuttled nearly 19,000 gallons of water to the scene. A water tender from East County Fire & Rescue assisted with water shuttling. There were no injuries or deaths. The fire is still under investigation.
